For the past 3 years, the HIES Fine Arts Alliance has had an academic partnership with Atlanta’s own High Museum of Art. Catalyzed by HIGH board members and HIES parents, Jennifer and Terry Weiss, this alliance allows students and faculty to enjoy behind-the-scenes access to the museum and an opportunity to host an annual exhibition of student artwork.

From March 24th through April 19th, artwork from 75 students ranging from kindergarten to the Upper School will be on display. In addition, there will be a reception on April 12th from 2 pm to 4 pm, accompanied with refreshments and hands-on activitiesin order to celebrate the students’ accomplishments. Thanks to the affiliation, there is no charge for admission, creating a great event for HIES families to attend.

In addition to the numerous perks this partnership provides for members of the HIES community,  it also gives students the opportunity to showcase their hard work. Standout art student and senior Alex Robitaille explains, “It’s inspiring  to have my art up at the High because one day I hope to have it hanging there, not in a student show, but as its own exhibit.” This exposure gives students like Robitaille the confidence and experience to further pursue their artistic dreams.

Support the HIES Fine Arts Alliance and stop by the High Museum of Art from March 24th through April 19th, especially on April 12th to enjoy a reception celebrating the students’ accomplishments.
